Tanvi Jagadish will participate in stand-up paddle races at the West Marine Carolina Cup 2017 in North Carolina kickstarting on 19th April. She is the only surfer representing India at the event.
For the first time, India will witness a representation at The West Marine Carolina Cup 2017. The five-day event (19th to 23rd April) at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina is one of the biggest stand-up paddle (SUP) and surf events of USA.
SUPer Tanvi Jagadish (17) of Mantra Surf Club based in Mulki, Karnataka who represented India at the Fiji ISA World Championship in November 2016, will be representing India at this event. She is the only surfer representing India at the event.
“I am super excited about this event!” exclaimed Tanvi in a phone call with The Outdoor Journal. “April Zilg invited me to participate, and I have been following her for such a long time. I am so happy and honoured to get this opportunity,” she said.
April Zilg is an American competitive stand-up paddler, currently ranked 9th in the world. A native of North Carolina, she met Tanvi years earlier at Mantra Surf Club.
After this event, Tanvi will focus on the ISA Championships in September this year.
Tanvi’s participation has been funded by brands like Vans India, Zuese Fitness Gym, and Kokilabaen Ambani Hospital. She has also launched an ongoing crowdfunding campaign.
