Born and brought up on a wildlife and cattle farm in Zimbabwe, Julian has spent 22 years of his career involved in the nature tourism and wildlife conservation arena, as a nature based entrepreneur, naturalist and a passionate advocate in using sustainable tourism as a conservation tool, and as a pioneer in the responsible nature tourism industry. He founded and ran for 12 years an award winning ethical nature and safari business www.steppesdiscovery.co.uk. This involved partnering and working alongside over 45 separate national and international wildlife agencies across the globe and funding a host of projects in many of the world’s greatest wildernesses, from Mongolia to the Pantanal. Alongside this he founded a tiger centric NGO in India www.toftigers.org in 2004 to focus on using nature tourism’s B2B pressure as a tool for raising nature tourism operational practices, community integration and habitat restoration. He lives and works from Wincanton, Somerset, UK.
