Crankworx Whistler

Ladies Tour of Norway

Date: August 12-14, 2016 Place: Halden, Norway Website:www.ladiestour.noWhy pay attention: It is the only Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) race for women in Norway. Held for the first time in 2014, it was a huge success which put Halden and Østfold in Norway on the international cycling map.

Date: August 13, 2016 Place: Leadville, Colorado Why pay attention: Considered as the races of all the races and first organized in 1994, it is one of the best attended and marketed mountain bike races in the world.

Red Bull Air Race World Championship

Date: August 13-14, 2016 Place: Ascot, Great Britain Why pay attention: Ascot, a small town in the beautiful wooded countryside of Berkshire, will host the third edition Red Bull Air Race World Championship. The venue is otherwise very famous for a horseracing event, Royal Ascot, which happens in June every year.

Swiss National Championships - DHI

Date: August 13-14, 2016 Place: Gstaad, Switzerland Why pay attention: It is a UCI listed downhill championship hosted by Bikepark, Gstaad. Swiss NationalChampionships beckons many top downhill riders from Switzerland to showcase their talent and shred the trails at Bikepark.

Red Bull Joyride

Date: August 16-21, 2016 Place: Boneyard, Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Canada Why pay attention: It is considered as one of the most technical terrains on the Freeride Mountain Bike circuit. Open only for the invitational-basis riders, world’s best shows their best moves at this event.

Ironman 70.3 European Championship

Date: August 14, 2016 Place: Wiesbaden, Germany Why pay attention: Hosted by one of the oldest towns in Europe, Wiesbaden offers a scenic, but challenging course at the Ironman 70.3 European Championship. It will offer 50 qualifying slots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship 2017 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

Mongolia Bike Challenge

Date: August 19-27, 2016 Place: Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia Why pay attention: It is an epic 6-day mountain biking race on the endless steppes and historical terrain of Mongolia. It regularly makes it to the list of the toughest mountain bike races in the world.

Leadville Trail 100

Date: August 21-22, 2016 Place: Leadville, Colorado Why pay attention: Established in 1983, it is one of the most famous 100-mile ultras in the world and is set on the trails and dirt roads near Leadville, Colorado – the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Leadville is one of the four 100-milers in the United States that make up the "Western Slam".

Vuelta a España

Date: August 20 - September 11, 2016 Place: Spain Website:www.lavuelta.comWhy pay attention: La Vuelta is a 21-stage race with two rest days covering 3,315kms primarily in Spain. In 2016, it will have seven flat stages, 12 hill and mountain stages, one stage of individual time trial and team time trial each. First held in 1935, it will be it's 71st edition.
