This year’s Red Bull X-Alps stretched to 1,283km – the longest route in the race’s history, pushing the limits of adventure racing further than ever before. In 2025, 32 male athletes and 1 female athlete set out to hike and fly their way across the Alps by foot and paraglider, battling for a place on the podium of the world’s toughest adventure race.

That journey is captured in the official documentary ‘Red Bull X-Alps 2025: Battle of legends', which has just been released. From 2009 to 2023, Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) won every edition of the race, eight times in total. This time, however, the Swiss legend had to give way to a new champion: Aaron Durogati (ITA1), who claimed victory after a fierce battle on Day 8.

‘Red Bull X-Alps 2025: Battle of Legends' tells the story of the athletes as they make their way across the Alps, from the race leader to the closest challengers. The documentary also highlights some of the most dramatic and scenic parts of the route, such as Celine Lorenz (GER2) being stuck in a valley for six hours, or Sebrand Warren (NED) hiking and struggling to finish the race.

Alongside the action from the race, the film features interviews with members of the organization and athletes’ supporters, each sharing their experiences, as well as insights from those who follow the race closely.

“This year, it was a lot of unexpected. I tried several times to escape from the group. It was not working. It was a big frustration and to handle this mentally was hard. But I finally made it (to the goal), and it made me proud.” - Chrigel Maurer

In addition to Chrigel Maurer (SUI1), the film features Aaron Durogati (ITA1), Lars Meerstetter (SUI4) and Simon Oberrauner (AUT1) - each bringing their own perspective on what it means to take part in Red Bull X-Alps. Their stories, combined with exclusive footage, provide a rare look into the demands of the world’s toughest race.

ABOUT RED BULL X-ALPS
Red Bull X-Alps is the world’s toughest adventure race. It’s a fiercely contested battle across the Alps lasting almost two weeks in which around 30 athletes run, hike and fly by paraglider up to 150km a day passing set Turnpoints positioned across the highest and most iconic mountains of the Alps as well as in famous resorts. With athletes often hiking up to 4,000m of vertical ascent each day and running as much as 100km on foot, it’s not only an incredible test of physical endurance but also of flying skill.
Red Bull X-Alps is the ultimate test of body and mind and only open to the world’s best adventure athletes and paraglider pilots.

Red Bull X-Alps was founded in 2003 by the late adventurer Hannes Arch and Ulrich Grill and has taken place every two years since. From 2009 to 2023, Christian Maurer dominated the race, winning all eight editions. The Swiss legend was finally overtaken this year, with Aaron Durogati clinching victory after a battle to the finish.
